The Los Angeles Lakers as a whole are lacking stability. Kobe Bryant knows this team is not a playoff team. He is shooting too much and the team needs help. Bryant's supporting cast has been inconsistent with Bryant resting games. The Lakers do not have a cohesive unit on a nightly basis. When the season started, Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer were in the starting lineup. After 20 or so games, Ronnie Price and Ed Davis took over. Julius Randle went down due to a leg injury in his NBA debut which is really unfortunate. It just seems to go downhill game by game. The Lakers need a top five pick in this year's draft or a free agent like Marc Gasol or maybe even go after Lebron James if the Cleveland Cavaliers continue to struggle.
Next season, they have money to spend but should spend it wisely. Kobe Bryant has only a few years left and they need to built through the draft and trades. Behind Bryant, there seems to be no one to build around. Jeremy Lin has not been consistent enough for head coach, Bryon Scott, to play heavy minutes. Carlos Boozer is on the wrong side of 30 and gives you only points and rebounds. Ed Davis is a solid defender with raw offense. The Lakers organization are not used to losing many games. After the Houston Rockets waived Tarik Black for Josh Smith, the Lakers picked up Black. He seems to be a player full of energy when he played behind Dwight Howard. He doesn't complain and works very hard on both ends of the floor. The Lakers need to start thinking about the future because Kobe Bryant is not going to be with the Lakers forever. They need young talent like the Orlando Magic with Victor Oladipo and the Minnesota Timberwolves with Andrew Wiggins. They will struggle for the upcoming years but in the long haul, it will be worth it.
